MyCQU - Pen Pal Project

Pen Pal Project

Take time away from your screen and make real connections

Keen to make real university friends? Tired of the computer screen? Wanting something exciting? If you answered yes, the Pen Pal Project is for you.

The Pen Pal Project matches you with another CQUniversity student to send and receive letters/packages via snail mail. We want you to make real connections, so match you with a pen pal that shares the same interests and hobbies. We understand that mail is expensive, so there’s another bonus, all costs are on us!

When you register for the project, a free Pen Pal Kit valued at $30 is sent to you. This includes 5 x envelopes, 5 x stamps, 1 x parcel and plenty of stationery, so you don’t need to spend a cent. We’ll even include a special letter with pen pal top tips to make the whole process a little easier and a lot more fun.

Due to the overwhelming response in applications, there is a 2-week waiting period for your Pen Pal Kit to be sent out. All kits are made by hand with love and take some time to complete. You will be sent an email when you are matched and your kit is on its way. Your patience is much appreciated.

How it works

  1. Complete the Google Form to register
  2. Receive a Pen Pal Kit in the mail with the details of your pen pal
  3. Use the kit to send and receive hand-written letters
  4. Enjoy the benefits of a real friend, potentially for life.

$20 Office Works vouchers are no longer being given out to new Pen Pal Registrations who send photos of their 5 letters and parcel sent. This was limited to the first 360 registrations. Most importantly, the joy of letter writing and friendship is still open for all to enjoy.
