The previous Library Lunch Box session (“Your ORCiD profile & Publons ID”) was held 28 August. If you couldn’t make it, the slides and script from this session are now available on Research Moodle here.
Did you know that this week is “Peer Review Week”? This global event celebrates the essential role that peer review plays in maintaining scientific quality. To help focus on #peerRevWk2019, the Library thought it would be timely to share some information about Publons.
Pub-what, you say? Publons … it’s a free online platform which allows you to track metrics about your publications, citation metrics, peer reviews, and journal editing work in a single, easy-to-maintain profile. What makes Publons unique is that it generates metrics from previously unrecognized peer reviewer and editorial work, all of which can be included in job and grant applications. There’s more good news, too:
- Publons can integrate with your ResearcherID and ORCiD
- Publons employs strong privacy and verification procedures to showcase your peer review activity without compromising your anonymity or infringing upon journal policies.
Remember to visit the Library’s researcher toolkit for guides on citation metrics, scholarly publishing and more. For more information, and to share a video on your thoughts on peer review, visit: https://peerreviewweek.wordpress.com or follow @PeerRevWeek on Twitter.
