Professor Peter Best has earned a place in the ‘Higher Education Hot List 2020'.

CQUniversity’s Professor Peter Best has earned a place in the second annual ‘Higher Education Hot List 2020’ alongside an illustrious group of researchers, professors, and industry figures.

The Educator Higher Education recognised Professor Best for his outstanding contributions to academe and the community as CQUni's Head of the College of Business.

The list also highlighted his work on a prototype for detection of money laundering activities, based on visualisation of monetary transactions.

The project developed in collaboration with CQUni’s Senior Lecturer in Accounting Data Analytics Dr Kishore Singh, was published in the International Journal of Accounting Information Systems where it received global interest for its value to ‘see’ the data in graphical formats to quickly and easily detect unusual flows of funds.

“It was an honour just to be nominated and now listed alongside a diverse range of higher education professionals who are excelling in their fields, Prof Best explained.

“I believe being named on this list highlights the importance of research on data analytics in areas such as the detection of money laundering.”

In a year of unprecedented challenges, School of Business and Law Dean Professor Lee Di Milia praised Professor Best for his work in Australia’s higher education sector and research impact worldwide.

“Congratulations to Professor Best for driving cutting-edge research, innovation and positive change while providing the highest quality educational experiences to our inspired students," Professor Di Milia said.

“His work has the ability to create positive change around the world with forensics practitioners already interested in the prototype and we look forward to his future work in the strategic value of data analytics to address major business problems."
